چکیده

S everal investigators have shown the flow patterns and morphologic characteristics of perforator veins in healthy subjects and in patients with chronic venous disease (CVD). The complex nature of CVD, having many different factors associated with disease severity and deterioration, has made it difficult to elucidate the role of perforator vein incompetence. In this article, many of the important elements associated with perforator veins in CVD are analyzed.

Background The color Doppler, a better investigation to identify the perforators objectively has replaced the clinical examination for the same. However, this has led to a significant number of negative explorations and cosmetic disfigurement. Objective To compare the efficacy of the clinical tests combined with the color Doppler versus color Doppler alone to identify the perforator incompetenc...

Cosmetic leg veins: evaluation using duplex venous imaging.

The records of 305 consecutive patients who had presented with cosmetic symptoms related to varicose and/or spider veins over a 12-month period were studied. Following clinical assessment, 250 (82%) patients were referred for duplex venous imaging. A total of 500 lower limbs were evaluated; 236 (47%) were documented to have incompetence in the superficial venous system (long or short saphenous ...
